Where is spring?

Spring is not in the near future here like we hoped. We have had snow, rain, snow, melting, snow, cold, more melting and its still slick on the back roads. Although it was pretty cold today the snow did melt a good deal. I am thoroughly convinced that it does thaw a little bit every day in February like my dad alas said. The snow and ice melted off most of the deck today and you can see the ground in many places. Our county road is still very slick though where the snow is packed from traffic and most of it is shaded. Maybe by the weekend it will be mostly gone.
With the snow deep like it has been for a few days the pullets have been staying in the building. They wont come out anyway in the snow. It only took a few times of flying out in the snow and being befuddled that they learned. Luna likes the snow. She was on the deck earlier today and was laying in the snow as opposed to laying on the cleared decking. She gets bored if the chickens aren't outside. She has nothing to look after except the cats and they don't appreciate her efforts in the least. Not much else happening on the homestead in this weather. Just staying warm and inside. Till next time, blessings from the McGuire homestead.
