It is too cold for this time of year. Dang our temps go from one extreme to the other these days. We went out today to get things we needed for the cookout tomorrow and it was nice enough out. Got home and decided to try to get the celery transplanted and some of the other things planted. The wind was blowing so hard and it was cold. I was really wishing I could trade my shorts and tank shirt in for some sweats. I had goose bumps. Got the celery planted and 2 kinds of beans. Also planted some petunias in the potatoes as they are supposed to repel the colorado potato beetle. We will see if it makes any difference. Still have marigolds to plant in the rest of the garden. We decided to wait till next week to transplant the peppers and finish planting. We have a frost advisory for tonight and the temps are supposed to be in the mid 30's. Cant say I remember it ever being this cold this late in May. Almost everything is out of the greenhouse so I will probably be closing it up in a week or so or at least till its time to start fall plants. Not much else happening on the homestead today. So till next time, blessings from the McGuire homestead.

I hear ya Stella! Last week it was in the 80's and yesterday it was 42 and light rain. The forecast this week calls for mostly 50's and rain clear through thursday-friday. Hopefully it changes a bit by next weekend for the road trip. I'm really looking forward to it except that drive with me shoehorned in that Dakota, lol. Talk to ya soon!
LMAO you are so funny Chris, I will have my camera ready when you arrive for a shot to see ya gettin unfolded outa the truck. I hope it dont rain so we can wonder around over the place a bit. We had a frost advisory las night, but here on the river frost is not very likely. Talk to ya soon.
Happy Mother's Day, Stella!
Hope you have a wonderful day, and a swell time @ your cookout :0).
Thank you for the info. on planting petunias, we too get those durned colorado potato beetles, so will give it a try. You mentioned also planting marigolds in your garden, are they also to repel some other invading bugs, too?
Have a great day,
Gracie
Hi Gracie, yeh marigolds are supposed to repel all kinds of bugs. Any plant or herb with a strong smell such as dill, rosemary, sage are good to plant with veggies to repel bugs. This is what I have alas read. I do plant various things in with garden veggies, as for tater bugs, I spray the heck out of them. The colorado potato beetles are really quick to develope an immunity to various toxins. They are a pain.
I did have a nice day with my boys here for mothers day. Thanks for the wish.
